What the Standards are
Safonau'r Gymraeg — the Welsh Language Standards — are legal duties placed on public bodies under the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011. They require services in Welsh on equal terms with English: correspondence, phone lines, websites, publications and more.
Where AI usually goes wrong
Most AI systems are built in English first and translated afterwards — sometimes well, often late, occasionally never. A system like that adds Welsh as an ongoing cost and a compliance risk. Every new feature repeats the same gap.
Bilingual by architecture
There is another way to build: Welsh and English together, from the first line of code. One engine, one document base, answers in either language with the source cited.
